I’m a fan of words: their meanings, origins and the clever ways in which people use them, whether written or spoken. The tagline for this blog is a quote from Jean Baptiste Girard, ‘By words we learn thoughts, and by thoughts we learn life‘.

Panda’s ‘Word of the Day’ draws words that appeal to me and which are generally not in regular usage.  The definitions are, in the most part, taken from www.dictionary.com who also have their own ‘word of the day’ email subscription.

Each post will list a month of words of the day.

The words are sourced either through trawling the dictionary, various WOTD email subscriptions or in books that i read.
